Golf firm helping Fiona tee up a bright future

As reported in the Walsall Advertiser, a major Aldridge golfing firm is helping a rising Shelfield swinging star bid for international recognition.

Harold Bird Golf Ltd, of Northgate, has been helping 16 year old Fiona Briggs as she bids to carve out a career in the game.

The Company has already provided her with three brand new woods and will cover her competition fees for the next year, as well as supply her with accessories like balls and tees.

Fiona, who won the Enville Junior Open in 2005, is hoping the generous backing will help her achieve more success in the future.

Fiona, who has been playing for just over two year already has a handicap of 5

Free lessons for our next 'Justin, Colin or Tiger'.

Harold Bird Golf are teaching students at the local Shire Oak School in Brownhills how to play the game. Each student in the 15 (plus) strong class has been presented with their own golf club by Robin Chapman. Former golf professional with over thirty years in the sport, Robin and his wife Sandy who own and run HGB are keen to put 'something back' into the sport they love.

Head of Shire Oak's sports department, Colin Hall commented, "We are very grateful to Robin and the rest of the Harold Bird team. The hour long lessons are proving extremely popular and are our most favoured after school activity".

Harold Bird Golf have set up lessons with two further local schools, Cooper & Jordon and Leighswood Schools, both in Aldridge. The weekly sessions will begin in September.
